Through Oslo, from north to south, runs the river Akerselva. Along the river there are parklands and walking trails, but also remains of Oslo’s industrial history. Grünerløkka lies on the east side of the river, behind the old industrial buildings. Here you will discover numerous little cafés,…

Grünerløkka, the hipster part of Oslo :) Plenty of bars, restaurants and nightlife. Vintage clothing shops can also be found! It is a traditional working class district, but from the late 20th century a gentrification process has taken place in the area. Although it is located in the East End, it…

Nice shopping area. Walking up Markveien from the river is the best part.

Hip and trendy neighborhood just east of the Akerselva river. Here you will discover numerous little cafés, restaurants and bars. Grünerløkka is also a popular shopping district, with original design shops and many vintage and second-hand stores.

“Aker Brygge is known for its strip of restaurants along the boardwalk, with plenty of opportunities for al fresco wining and dining. There's also a wide selection of fashion shops, if you want to renew your wardrobe. On sunny days, Aker Brygge is teeming with activity round the clock, and it doesn't cost you anything to wander along the quay and enjoy the fresh sea air.”

Palace
“What is it? The royal residence at the top of Karl Johans gate, home to HM King Harald V and HM Queen Sonja. The Royal Palace Park surrounds the palace on all sides and features grassy areas, majestic trees, small ponds and statues. Why go? Although the palace is open to the public only during 22 June until 25 August and all visitors must follow a guided tour, the impressive building at the end of Karl Johans street is worth a look. The grounds and gardens are free for visitors to wander around and for the regular changing of the guard every day at 1.30 pm.”
