Woodchester Mansion is a 19th Century Victorian Gothic Masterpiece mysteriously abandoned mid-construction in 1873. Hidden in a secluded Cotswold valley, it is untouched by time and the modern world. This Grade 1 Listed Building has been saved from dereliction, but will never be completed.

A labour of love that was never finished and now is a great example of Georgian building techniques. Lovely valley walks though woods and lakes.

Set in a beautiful valley, you could be forgiven for thinking this house is much older than it actually is. Open on certain days through the season, it is well worth a visit just to walk around if nothing else.

Visit this old gothic mansion and walk along its beautiful estate to the lakes and beyond. It is an unfinished masterpiece. Many walks to be enjoyed and a children’s adventure play area too.

“Children love Cattle Country there is loads of indoor and outdoor play equipment for all ages as well as boats to row, farm animals (donkeys, sheep, rabbits, pigs...) and a splash pool for the kids to cool off in on hot days so you need to pack swimmers. There is a lovely cafe there but you can take your own picnic and picnic areas are available. ”

“Delicious food at reasonable prices, with superb service. Set in a pretty Cotswold building, the restaurant has lovely views over the valley towards Rodborough Common. Extensive gin menu as well as excellent real ale. Listed in the 2017 Mitchelin Good Pub guide. One of our favourite places to eat.”

“Lots of lovely walks along the canal, very accessible down the hill from the cottage (keep going down until you go under the railway bridge). They've put so much effort into restoring the canal over the last 20 years or so. You can walk all the way to the M5 junction at Eastington”

“Boasting no fewer than three courses, Minchinhampton is one of the finest golf courses in the Cotswolds, including two Championship courses and the original ‘old course’. Renowned for their immaculate presentation and excellent drainage, all three courses are open to visitors year-round, with tee bookings available to be made two weeks in advance by calling the dedicated Tee Bookings Line (found on website). Proper golf attire is required to be worn, along with golf shoes and socks. ”
