The Portuguese Centre of Photography can be found in what was once a prison, and is one of the most interesting cultural experiences in the city.

This stately yet muscular building (1767) once served as a prison and now houses a photography museum. You actually walk through the thick iron gates and into the cells to see the work, which lends the intriguing exhibits even more gravitas. On the 3rd floor is a collection of cameras spanning every…

“The MMIPO has a double purpose, one is letting people know the history of the Misericórdia do Porto and its institutional purposes, and the other is to divulge its artistic collections, through a set of resources that reflect the memory and the identity of the organization, projecting it into the future.”

“ This amazing church was built in the XIV century. Its architecture is of the gothic style with some innovative symbols. During the XVIII century there were some significant works in its interior which brought to this Church all the splendor of the barroc style.”

“You can't visit Porto without visit Bolhão. This market is where farmers and people from here came to sell their fruit and vegetables. Unfortunately it's closed for renovations. But you can visit the temporary one at La Vie.”

“This library is probably one of the most beautiful places to visit in Porto. By other hand there is always a big queue to get in even if you bought your ticket in advance. If is it worth? If you are staying in Porto more than 2 days, my answer is yes, if not, my answer is no. Additionaly, you have to pay 5€ to get in but if you buy a book you can use that value as a 5€ voucher. Also, don't take serious when you read in the internet that this library is related with Harry Potter because is not!!! Anyway, it is a big mark in Porto for sure. I love it.”

“Enjoy the best sunset at Virtudes or at the gardens of Palácio de Cristal (both have beautiful views to the river and the sunset).”
