Um þennan stað
This tight little jazz club packs in more musicians, both local and foreign, than patrons, especially for its Tuesday open-mic night.

North Gate Jazz Co-Op is the premier live jazz bar in Chiang Mai, with an immensely talented roster of live musicians. Minnismerki / kennileiti
“The Three Kings Monument consists of the bronze statues of King Mengrai, the founder of Chiang Mai and his two friends, King Ramkamhaeng of Sukhothai and King Ngam Muang of Payao, who are believed to have worked together to build the city. This has become an iconic part of the city and is reproduced in different forms and installed in different parts of Chiang Mai. There is a square in front of the monument which is the venue for many festivals. The square is surrounded by restaurants serving western food; close-by is also the office of Thai Airways. The Three Kings Monument is located inside the city walls at the center of the old city. The monument stands in front of the Old Provincial Hall building which is today the City Art and Culture Center. The locals regard the monument as a shrine for the three kings. They offer flowers, incense and candles to the statue to invoke the blessings of these great Kings who conceived of the idea of the city of Chiang Mai.”

Bar
“Zoe in Yellow is the number one party venue for every traveller under 35 years old in Chiang Mai. It is a bar with a dance floor, surrounded by seven other bars each offering slightly different music, ranging from dance, pop, hip hop to drum'n'bass, techno and reggae. Zoe in Yellow is located on a street corner right in the middle of the Old City. Everybody knows it, so if you can’t find it you can either ask or follow the music. Zoe in Yellow is open every evening from sunset until midnight, and there are always foreign travellers dancing and drinking. Drinks are very reasonable in all the bars, with a beer at Zoe in Yellow costing around 60 Baht and a cocktail 100 Baht. While there is no food available at the bar, the next door neighbour serves authentic Indian food and after 10pm a kebab van arrives to feed hungry partiers. It is said that you haven’t visited Chiang Mai until you have had a drink at Zoe in Yellow!”

Buddhist Temple
“Wat Phra Singh is perhaps the second most venerated temple in Chiang Mai after Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. It houses three main structures, the main attraction being the elegantly decorated Lai Kam assembly hall and its restored murals depicting the lives of locals hundreds of years ago. Located inside the old city wall, at the western end of Ratchadamnoen Road, the temple’s signature Lanna-style roofs and glittering viharn (assembly hall) invite visitors. The walled-in temple compound is busy with visitors and worshippers all year round and is usually packed during the Thai New Year festival (Songkran) in mid-April.”

Listasafn
“Set in the former Provincial Hall, a handsome Thai-colonial-style building from 1927, this museum provides an excellent primer on Chiang Mai history. Dioramas, photos, artefacts and audiovisual displays walk visitors through the key battles and victories in Chiang Mai's story, from the first settlements to the arrival of the railroad. Upstairs there's a charming re-creation of a wooden Lanna village.”
