Hawaii Theatre has played a significant role in Honolulu’s cultural landscape since 1922. The mission of the non-profit Hawaii Theatre Center, established in 1984 is to provide a broad range of entertainment, cultural and educational experiences; promote redevelopment and revitalization of downtown Honolulu/Chinatown; and enhance the quality of life in Honolulu.

The Hawaii Theatre is a historic theater in downtown Honolulu. It was built in 1922. It is listed on the State and National Register of Historic Places. Structural features include elements of Neoclassical architecture for the exterior with Byzantine, Corinthian and Moorish architecture inside. Enjoy views of a Lionel Walden mural above the proscenium with sculptures of Hamlet and Merchant of Venice in bas-relief!
