Nightly show at sundown when 400,000 + bats emerge from the UF bat houses over the lake, UF gardens and walking path. *bats typically won't emerge if temps are under 60 degrees*

The UF bats come out at dusk nightly and can be viewed for FREE just by showing up! They are small bats that exit their bat houses to search for bugs. It is an awesome sight! Park in the small lot near bat houses.

One of the past times that I have from growing up here in Gainesville is going to the bat houses on UF campus and seeing all the bats emerge from the huge bat houses around sunset. You get to catch the sunset and it’s a really unique experience that I would recommend anyone!

20 minutes after sunset, 20million* bats exit the 3 bat houses on Museum Road to eat bugs over Lake Alice. Sounds odd, but it is a classic Gainesville experience. (*not sure how many bats. A lot of bats.)
