The Metra train can take you downtown or South to the Indiana Dunes. Check schedules, as the weekend it runs every 2 hours.

You can catch the Metra Electric Line downtown from here. The closest entry is on 56th Street. The trains take about 13 minutes to get downtown, and run frequently during rush hour, but infrequently at other times -- I recommend checking the schedule. Tickets are cheaper if you buy in advance ($5 mark up on the train); the machines at the 57th st entrance take cards, the other entrances have cash-only machines. You can get a 10 ride pass for $33.25. The South Shore line also runs through here. Both lines also go to Indiana.
