This quaint little space in historic West Village mimics the taste and nostalgia of the South while at the same time providing an amazing amount of nutrition with an entirely vegan menu. It’s owned by two black women—Kirsten Ussery and Erika Boyd—who decorated with romanticized portraits of Detroit street signs and famous icons from the city. The real kicker is the seitan pepper steak—it’s served over brown rice, and the texture of whatever vegetarian product they use to make the steak is so identifiable that it would fool even the most serious carnivore.
Vegans, rejoice! Prepare yourself for mac and cheese, tasty greens (perfectly salted), and all of the soul food faves you can handle. Super cute neighborhood. Take a pic in front of the floral mural across the street!
Tasty vegan dishes that make you question, is this really vegetarian. the chef is creative and dedicated to quality meals.
Vegan Soul Food is actually a thing and its actually freaking amazing.... If youre a veggie, definitely check this place out! There's another location closer to downtown too.

“Great happy hour that goes until 6 (with $10 half dozen oysters), well-made cocktails and a raw bar. Also great fish and chips! Restaurant is half a block away. I like the atmosphere at the bar side better than the dining side, so I always ask to be seated there.”

“Wine selection is amazing! Perfect if you're already downtown and need to pick up a few bottles as parking is very limited.”
