Another beautiful nature sight is Vodno Mountain, if you feel like hiking and having a coffee on the top of the mountain with the breathtaking view of Skopje and Shara Mountain, this is the great choice you shouldn't skip. You could also take the gondola from Sredno Vodno to the top (the gondola isn't running on Mondays).

Vodno is the closest mountain to the city. It offers hiking, climbing, walking and single's and families' outdoors experiences at an altitude of as high as 1000 m. It is the most joyous hiking ground adjacent to the urban city hustle and bustle.

The place where locals go to hike and enjoy the clean air with the best views of Skopje. You can hike to the summit (about 2.5 hours) or take the funicular from the middle of the mountain. There is also bus going until the start point of the funicular.

The Millennium Cross on the mountain above the city has been growing into one more symbol of Skopje.Seventy six meters tall, standing at the summit of Vodno (1,057m altitude), it resembles the cross on the tomb of the hero who in days long ago blew his life into then dead rock with his „ Singing Spear„. About the Routes Visit Millennium Cross Vodno: Sredno Vodno area can be accessed by car or a bus. Then it can be reached by mountain paths or a cable-lift (rope way). Price per person for the rope way is 2 EUR. Please, keep in mind that you cannot climb the cross itself! Accessibility Notes During the off-season, make certain that you go early as everything shuts down promptly at 5 pm you might be at the top or at the base station without a bus/taxi back to the city. Once you reach the parking lot half way up Vodno mountain (by your own car - there is a large parking lot or by hourly bus marked KPCT = Cross in Macedonian), you can also climb all the way to the cross on foot (it's a very steep climb that will last between one and two hours - bring enough water with you). According to previous visitors "Cable car is cheap and fun, from the top there is a great view on the city of Skopje and surrounding valleys"; "You cannot say you have visited Skopje if you have not been here. It is one of the best places to visit in the city. Wonderful view."
