On the West end of Panama City Beach, Camp Helen State Park offers a one of a kind natural experience. It is the largest coastal dune lake in Florida. The park includes the Avondale Mills historic site and an interpretative exhibit. Bird watching, hiking and fishing are popular activities. Kayak rentals are available in season. Hours are 8 AM to sundown 7 days a week. Fees are $4/vehicle, $2/pedestrian, bicycle, additional occupant.

To see a bit of old Panhandle living, this is a must see! A short trip on the west end of Panama City Beach, it is well worth the drive! Young people may not enjoy it as much as seasoned travelers so don't be surprised if the younger ones ask "are we done yet!"

Very cute place to visit. Start with a historical walk then ease into a short hike/walk around the wooded/sandy trails. End up at the beach. Careful with the wild habitat. Be sure to read the signs.
