Peaceful hermitage with a unique cave-church. Is only 5 minutes driving or 45 minutes walking, there's also a restaurant for lunch.

The hermitage of Calomini is an ancient place of worship located in Garfagnana, along the road that leads to the town of Vergemoli, above Gallicano. The suggestive architectural complex is located at the base of a large overhanging wall and according to a tradition it was built right in the place where a jet of pure water gushed from the rocks and the image of the Madonna was revealed to a shepherdess of Calomini. The oldest part is the sacristy, carved into the rock with chisels presumably before the year 1000, which was probably the original nucleus of the place of worship.

The views are stunning, the place is beautiful and there is a wonderful restaurant just beside the closter. A very pleasant place to have lunch!
