Kresge Court

This is my destination writing spot. The setting is pure inspiration. Who doesn't want to write the next great American novel in the courtyard of an Italian medieval palace? The walls are brick, like the outside of a castle. And there are modern, cushiony chairs and WiFi. You can cluster with a group of people and talk, but I usually go to write. Every visitor to the Detroit Institute of Arts will want to see the beautiful murals by Diego Rivera. But also check out the Great Hall, where you’ll find a collection of armor—it’s amazing to find knights in shining armor in the middle of Detroit.
