one of the most beautiful towns in England Nestled in green valleys and wooded hills, Sherborne is without doubt, one of the most beautiful towns in England. Medieval and mellow-stoned, this Dorset gem has a reputation for art, antiques and world famous schools. Sample the best local produce at the Saturday farmers’ market; seek out an antique bargain at the regular vintage market or enjoy a guided walk around this pretty town. A visit to Sherborne is an absolute must! With its abundance of ancient and beautiful buildings, superb Abbey, picturesque Almshouse and two Castles (one built by Sir Walter Raleigh), Sherborne’s many attractions make for a captivating visit. With a wide range of individually-owned shops and boutiques, Sherborne is a great place to find a unique gift, inspiration for the home and exclusive fashion. The town is also a real treasure trove for antiques lovers (Visit Dorset 2022).

A beautiful small Dorset town housing its famousschool. Many lovely shops and cafes and an icecream parlour! Sherborne also has a Waitrose and easy parking.

A beautiful historic town, where you can book a guided tour if you're keen to discover the interesting corners. This photo features the Cheap Street church, where anyone can go on Fridays to listen to Sherborne School boys' lunchtime concerts for free. But more famous by far is Sherborne Abbey, where at various times of the year literary, music and film festivals take place.

About 30 minutes drive, Sherborne dates back to Saxon times and most of the town is built from locally quarried stone. This is a reason behind the town’s unique, eye pleasing looks. At the forefront of its stunning architecture stands Sherborne Abbey – a truly fascinating and complex example of medieval architecture.

A little further a field but this historic Abbey town is well worth a visit for its eclectic selection of boutiques and antique shops.
