Local skiing is available at Cataloochee Ski Resort, located just 19 miles away in Maggie Valley. They have the longest running ski season on the east coast.

This is highly recommended if you're looking for snow sports in the winter. I have not been here but many friends of mine have gone here and had so much fun with their family. It will take anywhere from 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours driving from the cabin.

“One of our all time favorite restaurants for a great meal and glass of wine. Whether you're in town on business and grab a seat at the bar, having a girls' lunch or a nice dinner with your partner, Sweet Onion has excellent food and service. During Covid Times, they have done a great job of social distancing in the restaurant. They also offer carry-out. Currently, you check-in outside and then they let you in and show you to your table. Local tip: try the Lemongrass Vinaigrette. It's amazing!! Also, if you visit in season- try the Apple Crisp for dessert. You won't regret it. ”
