Every state has a "State Dessert"...really. Maine's is the Whoopie Pie. Very sweet. It's worth splitting for your first try. There are many variations if you fall in love with this unique treat. At Wicked Whoopies they even have mail order options - in case you decide you love Whoopie Pies and know all your friends and family will as well.

The Whoopie Pie is Maine's official snack. If you have never had a whoopie pie and you are in Maine, don't leave the state without trying one. If you are going to try one, you might as well try the BEST one. If you can't make it to Freeport, you can find one at any local Hannaford.
