Burlington's bike path is 12 to 13 miles, mostly right along Lake Champlain. To the north it continues through Colchester to a causeway that in the summer connects to the Champlain Islands via a bike ferry for a short gap where boats enter the harbor. The Burlington segment starting at the downtown was renovated last year and is spectactular.

Hop on the Burlington Bike Path, which turns into the Island Line Bike Trail - starting in Oakledge Park, or catch it right downtown on the waterfront. This is an awesome way to take in the Lake Champlain and mountain views. Bike rentals, both regular and electric, are available at Local Motive. Be brave and ride this trail to Colchester and take the causeway - a narrow strip of land with the lake on both sides. From there, catch the Local Motion Bike Ferry to get you over the cut. Continue into South Hero for a Maple Creamee at Allenholm Farms in South Hero!
