You can spend a day walking from here to either Southwold by foot or ferry or towards Dunwich. Or spend a quiet time crabbing off one of the bridges. All ages love this.

A small coastal village with two pubs, lovely walks, a deli and magnificent gift shop on the green! Catch the rowing boat ferry (not open all hours) across to Southwold and walk back over the Bailey Bridge. Watch out for several famous home owners in Walberswick!

Walbeswick is the next beach South of Southwold. Its a quiet little village, with a few shops and two pubs. The beach is beautiful, with small dunes. Walbeswick is the place to go crabbing. You need some baccon in your crab lines and go hang them over one of the bridges into the river.

You can walk to Walberswick from Dunwich in an hour from the cottages. You can follow the Suffolk Coastal Path without having to worry about turning off and you'll meander through the forest, reed beds and onto the beach at the Walberswick or you can walk along the beach from Dunwich. Be warned, the beach is full of shingle so can get quite hard going when the tide is in! There are two large car parks, please don’t be alarmed there may be difficulty parking as this tourist attraction does get rather busy. For a spot to eat there is The Tea Shed, delicious home-made cakes and bakes or light lunch options for you to try too. As part of the Adnams pub family, The Bell Inn offers lunch or evening meals cooked with locally sourced ingredients. Additionally, The Anchor offers a variety of meals for lunch and dinner in their heated marquee on the Back Terrace. A great activity for kids and adults which is also an inexpensive family day out is crabbing by the harbour. There are public toilets next to Walberswick Village Hall if necessary. Travel to Southwold in style on the Walberswick Ferry over the River Blyth, whilst taking in the scenery. Please take into consideration that the ferry only runs from Easter to October.
