Antony Gormleys Angel of the North stands 20 meters high just of the A1 welcoming visitors as they enter the city of Newcastle and Gateshead. You can pull up beside the Angel and walk to the sculpture. There is no fee for visiting the site.

“Small and friendly theatre showing a wide variety of new plays. Ideal if you are on a budget and willing to sample new productions. Situated on the quayside.”

“Jesmond Dene is a unique haven of peace and tranquility for the people of Newcastle. It is a narrow wooded valley that follows the river Ouseburn between South Gosforth and Jesmond Vale. This provides an important wildlife corridor right into the centre of Newcastle. There is a spectacular mix of native and exotic trees, and the Dene is home to a lot of wildlife, notably the Kingfisher, the Red Squirrel and many woodland birds. The Dene stretches for over three kilometres and has many areas of tranquillity, as well as ‘honey pots’ of activity. ”

“Great day out for the family - Go back in time in the living open air museum reliving the story of the North East through the 1820's, 1900's, 1940s & 50's. We particularly like to take a picnic and eat up by the farm. If you want a photo of yourself back in time - head there first, situated in the old 1900's town and reserve your slot as this get get fully booked in the holidays. ”

“The Life Science Centre offers a combination of hands-on and display exhibits which have been designed to bring out your inner scientist, whilst having some fun in the process. Life also has a special area for under 7’s. This museum does have an admission charge and I would only recommend paying if there is an exhibition on. From November to February, Life hosts an outdoor ice rink in Times Square, just outside the Science Centre. ”
