“Hardcastle Crags is a wooded Pennine valley in West Yorkshire, England, owned by the National Trust. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, it lies approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) north of the town of Hebden Bridge. There are many trails through secluded wooded valleys, rich in plant, bird and animal life, with hints of the area's industrial past. The huge beech trees planted in the 1870s change to their fantastic autumn colours, with beech nuts and crisp copper leaves carpeting the ground. Along the walks you may see numerous species of fungi, growing on the ground, on trees or deadwood. You can spot many different bird species including dippers, heron, woodpeckers and Jays.”

“Now this is a little unusual! Gaddings Dam is famous for being the highest beach in the British Isle. It’s used on a regular basis for deck chairs and swimming. I kid you not! Buckets and spades not compulsory! It’s worth a visit, just to send a photo of you relaxing on the beach to friends and family. Again it only a stones throw away from the Shepherds Rest if you know what I mean!”
