Mammoth Hotsprings Yellowstone National Park, North Entrance. Just 83 miles from Bozeman with amazing thermal features and wildlife viewing opportunities.
A few miles north of the park headquarters at Mammoth Hot Springs is a little known place called the Boiling River. This a corner of the Yellowstone River where a hot spring smingles with the cold river water and comes together to create a unique bathing experience. It is rustic and requires a short hike/walk (it’s pretty flat) to the soaking spot along the river. Bring water shoes, because you then climb in over river rock and there is a bit of a current so keep hands on your little kids. There are a couple of public outhouses at the trailhead. There are hotel facilities at Mammoth, but not directly near the Boiling River.

The first location you will get to in Yellowstone National Park where natural thermal feature formations shape the mountain side. Lots of elk... everywhere.
- Visit the Albright Visitor Center. - You can often see elk hanging out on the lawns. - Walk the boardwalks of the lower and upper Terraces. - Eat lunch at the Mammoth Dining Hall. - If going to Gardiner, take the Gardiner to Mammoth Road for off the beaten path views - you can access it behind the Hotel.
North end of Yellowstone but well worth the drive. Great hike on trails around the hot pots. Between here and Gardner, MT look for a place along the river for a turnout by the bridge that you can take a short hike and sit in the hot pools in the river, only several miles out of Mammoth.
