Ábendingar heimamanna
A landmark in the Nantahala National Forest, Whiteside Mountain rises to an elevation of 4,930 feet. It's located between Cashiers and Highlands.
Whiteside is a beautiful hike! It’s on the right on the way out of town on towards Cashiers on Hwy 64. It’s a loop trail so you can go a different way up than down. It’s a gorgeous rock face overlook.

“A natural 10 ft high rock face water slide on the Chattooga River. This is a very popular spot during summer. You can slide down the rock, cannonball into one of the potholes or just wade in the pool below the rock. From the center of Cashiers follow Hwy 107 South for 1.9 miles. Turn right on Whiteside Cove Road for 2.8 miles reaching the small bridge over the Chattooga River. Park in the gravel parking area and take the trail to the Sliding Rock.”
