There are MANY options to hike to the top. Long trail, haselton, hellbrook (difficult) all start from Stowe side. If you drive over to the underhill side of the mtn, there are numerous other options as well. If you arrive to the top before 4pm you can ride the gondola down for free if you started near the stowe mountain lodge

Slightly more challenging hike, many people do—sunrise hikes or sunset hikes…one of the highest peaks around…you can just drive over smugglers notch for a great view also..

Mt Mansfield is a must whether you hike (moderate to difficult) or drive your car up the toll road! If you hike, expect the excursion to take the entire day. If hiking the entire way is not your thing, you can drive the toll road to the top and hike to the summit, which takes about an hour.
