“Dhanmondi Lake is a lake located in the Dhanmondi residential area in Dhaka, Bangladesh.[1][2] The lake was originally a dead channel of the Karwan Bazar River, and was connected to the Turag River. The lake is partially connected with the Begunbari Canal. In 1956, Dhanmondi was developed as a residential area. In the development plan, about 16% of the total area of Dhanmondi was designated for the lake.[3] The lake has become a well visited tourist spot, with cultural hubs such as the Rabindra-Sarobar located along its side.”

“One cannot write an article about cultural spaces in Dhanmondi without mentioning Drik Gallery. Situated opposite to Nando's at Dhanmondi Road #27, Drik Gallery hosts numerous events throughout the year, most centered on the exhibition of photography. A strong and widely influential network of photographers has formed around Drik Gallery and seeing their work will certainly leave you with a new perspective. Aside from photography exhibitions, Drik Gallery, as well as the other art galleries in Dhanmondi, such as Bengal Art Lounge, Chitrak and Gallery 21, all host a variety of exhibitions from poetry and literary events to painting and even numerous fairs throughout the year.”
