There are several trails that ascend Crane Mountain, all with unique views of the surrounding wilderness. On the more difficult trail there are a series of ladders to help scramble part of the cliff, but the effort is worth the breathtaking views. You can choose to stop off at Crane Pond on the way to the summit. The trail head can be found in nearby Johnsburg off a side road from the Garnet Lake Road, which in turn is a side road from the South Johnsburg Road.
