It's a beautiful place, go and hear a concert there if you can. Or just walk around it, and go and see the museum of cathedral treasures. There is a cafe, but we recommend the one at the Almshouses (on Palace Green in front of the Cathedral) instead.

Durham Cathedral is one of the greatest buildings in Europe. Set grandly on a rocky promontory next to the Castle with the medieval city huddled below and the river sweeping round, the profile of the World Heritage Site is instantly recognisable to people travelling up and down the East Coast Main Line.
