The MoMA’s sister museum for contemporary art has a must-see installation by James Turrell, an artist who is interested in the mind’s theta state. It’s a room of changing colors meant to trigger brain-wave entrainment into deep relaxation. About 30 people are allowed in at one time, and there are wooden benches all around to relax on. There is an open window in the room, so if the weather is bad don’t come out here to see it. They’ll close the installation.
Offshoot of Manhattan's MoMa (Museum of Modern Art), located in adjacent Long Island City. Check hours of operation during COVID-19.
A young, hip art institution in a former school building dedicated to contemporary art.
In the summer they host live outdoor DJ events every month. Not quite in Williamsburg but really close (Long Island City).
