Right in your backyard, you will be able to visit the enchanting RAINBOW FALLS. It is actually located right in the city of Hilo. A short walk from the car directly to the fall. After your small hike and viewing the Falls you can grab a quick lunch in downtown Hilo.
Beautiful. Some guide books mention about swimming above the falls in several locations. Please don't do this! Many people drown each year here when they get caught in the current and get stuck in the underground lava tubes.
No hiking trails here, but it's a great quick trip in Hilo to see a nice waterfall. The waterfall is a 30 second walk from the parking lot.
This is one of the most geologically interesting national parks in the United States, home to two active volcanoes that allow visitors to see the wonder of nature in action. Visitors should be aware that various parts of the park and surrounding area, including roads, may be closed during periods of volcanic activity.
