“Ixelles neighborhood is tasteful and sharp. The flat is only a short tram ride (10 minutes to the fancy elegant Place Sablon) or a 10 minute walk to Place Stephanie and the fancy Ave Louise. It’s a 2 minutes stroll to Place Châtelain which is a trendy area, with many little restaurants, bars and stylish unique boutiques (no chain stores). Some of our favorite places in the neighborhood are Tarzan and Jane (wine bar with excellent healthy side dishes), Pepete et Ronron (a cool bar with good music and cocktails), Lou Wine Bar (a small cosy local place with excellent wines and a few nice dishes) which we love because our kids are named Lou. White Night is on the Place Châtelain which is open late and where you can find smokes/drinks and small groceries and any late hour). Dam Sum offers excellent Dim Sum and is fabulous. Next to it is a Parisien style Bistro, called Grizzly, which has great burgers. »Knees to Chin » is a small simple and stylish Vietnamese place with fusion rice rolls and many awesome sauces. 2em element comptoir (located around corner on the hip shopping street, Rue Baille, has fresh and succulent Pad Thai and Excellent soups to go! The Bank and Supra Baille are great local bars with artists, movie goers and young professionals. Rue Page is extra special because it’s filled with designers, original boutiques and galleries with tasteful decor, clothing and international vibe. Rue American, just around the corner, has the famous Petite Rien (a 5 story 2nd hand furniture and clothing/vintage store). A few doors down, you will find the famous Horta House, which is a must see in Brussels if you like Art Nouveau. A 10 minute tram drive takes you our favorite parc, Bois de la Cambre where you can feel like a chatelain for a few hours. It’s covered in forests, open spacious green, a lake and and a barge, which takes you to Chalet Robinson (great for brunch, lunch or dinner, or an afternoon tea/desert). If you want to get away from the Grand Place and the real tourist center, you can head out to Place Flagey or Saint Gilles (filled with students, artists and young entrepreneurs and professionals), just 10 minutes by foot. There is a guide book available which will give you names of all the great Belgian Brasseries and restaurants, boutiques, bars and more. Have fun and we’re always here and available to share with you this little European capital which we adore. ”
