This is a fantastic beach that offers several interesting nature spots. There are the dunes covered in sea rocket and marram grass, the grassland with unsual Flowers and butterflies and the cliffs with different types of seabirds nesting. The Visitor centre has lots of useful Information what can be seen in each Season. There you will also find a car park and toilets.

Not in Stonehaven, you’ll need to take a bus down the coast or drive but St Cyrus Nature Reserve is great and the beach is beautiful with white sand. St Cyrus is about 18 miles South of Stonehaven so not too far. This is, in fact, the village I now live in. If you do come and need food, try the Old Bakery Coffee Shop or the Village Inn, and if they’re shut, the McColl’s shop is open long hours!

Spectacular 92ha National Nature Reserve. I am biased though as I was lucky enough to be Ranger here for 5 years! Miles of golden sands, acres of flowering grassland on the dunes behind with an impressive backdrop of cliffs full of nesting seabirds.
