Amazing view. This is the place where the Appalachian Trail and the Bartram Trail crossover. Hiking, Climb the Tower and view the mountains, pack a picnic and eat at one of the picnic tables.

Wayah Bald has amazing mountain views! The trails are not difficult. You can drive your car most of the way. The original tower was burned in the recent forest fire in the area, but i has been rebuilt.

On a clear day from this 5,342 foot elevation, you can see Tennessee, Georgia and South Carolina! Visitors can climb an old stone tower built in the days of the Civilian Conservation Corps. Part of Nantahala National Forest, area offers trails, picnic, restrooms and scenic views.

“These guys have the best outdoor gear store in all of Western NC! They are also friendly & helpful to everyone who needs advice about their outdoor equipment of any kind. We love to shop at Outdoor 76! They are fantastic at helping you find the correct fit of hiking boots, trail running shoes, etc... ”

“We love this place for the bakery and the dishes they serve. Some dishes are exclusive to this restaurant. They make a maple walnut dressing for one of their salads that’s outstanding. They also have outdoor seating. Open 11-8 Wed-Sat and 11-3 Tuesday. Address: 91 Georgia Rd. Franklin, NC 28734”

Grocery or Supermarket
“The brown-fronted store in the picture is the old, smaller Ingle's in downtown Franklin & the map shows its location (won't update to show the new Ingle's Market location). There are actually three Ingle's stores in Franklin but only one is the wonderful, new, large -Ingle's Market- located about 1/2 mile south of Franklin on Hwy 23. It has everything you could possibly want or need! It's a grocery but also offers a great selection of wines and beers, household items, a deli and bakery, even has a Starbucks. Plus, we've heard they serve a great breakfast too. Open 7 days a week, 6am-11pm.”

“Tucked into a nondescript spot behind the Hot Spot gas station is a small French restaurant that is a hidden gem. They don’t take credit cards and arrive early as there is always a wait at this fabulous place. Wed-Sat 11:00 AM-8:30 PM. Order the Osso Buco.”
