White Lake, a hamlet of Bethel, was the closest community to the Woodstock Music Festival in 1969. Although it is one single lake, the northern part of White Lake is often referred to by its Native American name, Kauneonga Lake, which means "lake with two wings." A great summer community, visitors can spend hours wandering up and down White Lake, stopping at one of the numerous lakeside restaurants in the neighboring hamlet of Kauneonga Lake as well.

White Lake is a hamlet in the town of Bethel, Sullivan County, New York on the southeast shore of a lake of the same name. It was the closest community to the Woodstock Music Festival in 1969. It is a small lake town with waterfront restaurants and more! White Lake is centered in the town and has a state boat launch for fishing and boating recreation. Summer farm market, music in the park, and many other activities throughout the town. Site of the original 1969 Woodstock Music and Arts Festival. In 2019, the Bethel Heritage Trail opened. A ten-mile driving loop of outdoor permanent photo displays of the 1969 Festival. Bethel Woods Center for the Arts opened in 2006, a world-class performing arts center and museum.
