Scanian food with local seasonal ingredients. Snapphane is a loose term for a member of several different groups of pro-danish guerrilla in several scanian/swedish-danish wars in the 1600's. Contested etymology, among the guesses are: german word for mounted highwayman (snaphane); dutch term for gun firing lock (snap haunce); swedish transferred meaning of being fast on the trigger (snabb på hanen). Used derogatory by the swedish state at the time and snapphanarna was hunted down and violently executed. Let's eat!
