Housed in a landmark industrial building on the south bank of the River Tyne in Gateshead, BALTIC presents an ever-changing calendar of dynamic, diverse & international contemporary visual art exhibitions and events.
set beside the iconic 'Blinking Eye' Millenium Bridge on the Gateshead side of the quayside this is a fantastic gallery showcasing contemporary exhibitions.
Always impressive, always new art in this free multi-storey gallery. It has a lovely little cafe and a fancy restraunt on the top floor. There's a great outdoor viewing deck where you can see the entire city and river. And did I say it's free? What's not to like?
Fantastic building - an old flour mill - and great exhibition space over a number of floors. Free to enter. A good restaurant on the top floor plus cafe and (rather good) gift shop on ground floor. Spectacular views of the quayside and bridges from the viewing platform.

“Leazes Park is a beautiful place to spend a sunny day. It is rather small but has lots of birds spending their time on the lake, so you're in for quite a view.”

“Steeped in history this imposing Norman fortress, in the center of Newcastle Upon Tyne, is a rugged reminder of northern England's turbulent history. This was no baron's stately home. Newcastle Castle is a grim reminder of royal authority where armies gathered, and criminals were imprisoned and executed. It is where the story of Newcastle began, the reason the city got its name and has the most commanding views over the city and the River Tyne.”
