Anavissos is one of the most known and beautiful beach resorts situated close to Cape Sounion. Over the years, many Athenians have moved here from the city centre and many countryhouses have been built on the hill slopes facing the crystalline beach. The area is well-known for its clean and shallow waters, ideal mostly for the children who love activities in the water and the sand. The beach is surrounded by tall pine trees and a lush green environment that create a peaceful landscape in combination with the crystal clear waters. The beach offers all kinds of facilities like sunbeds and umbrellas, beach bars and canteens. The beach is also one of the best windsurfing destinations. During the weekends it gets really crowded, mostly by the younger crowds. It is ideal and safe for families as well. In the wider region many cafes, restaurants and hotels are found. Anavissos is located 52 km south east of the city centre.
