Perhaps Dunedin's most spectacular stretch of coast. The walk down is ~20minutes, return a bit slower. The light is best in morning, the wee beach is more accessible at low tide.

“Normally we locals don't pay for tours like this, but we won an Elm tour in a school raffle a while back, and it was spectacular! The highlight is a private beach/wildlife refuge not accessible to the public, which Elm has worked long and hard to restore to its natural state. Call ahead to confirm what wildlife you are likely to encounter (penguins!? fur seals!? giant albatross!?), as this varies by season.”

“A very special place that is a must to visit. It celebrates the contribution Chinese people have made, and continue to make, to Dunedin's history, culture and ongoing prosperity. The Dunedin Chinese Garden is the only authentic Chinese garden in New Zealand. It is the first in the Southern Hemisphere.”

“This quirky little bar packs a huge punch with its gin collection. It's a favorite little place to enjoy a cocktail or two with locals.”

“Heritage Coffee & Vogel Street Kitchen are creations of the same person, a Dunedin local, who you can read all about in the 'Delicious Dunedin' book in the kitchen. Here you'll find delicious kiwi Otepoti treats, as well as beautiful breakfasts and brunch options in a beautifully restored Heritage building. Heritage is perfect if there are just a couple of you visiting, as the space is small and cosy, located in the 135 year old David Reid & Company building.”
