Recently inaugurated... a most see!! You should not leave San Jose without visiting this museum.
A great recently built museum that has a lot of Precolumbian culture in Costa Rica, including amazing gold and jade art hundreds of years old.
The Museo del Jade is an archaeological museum in San José, Costa Rica. It is since 2014 located in front of Plaza de la Democracia.
5 story museum with nice jade pieces that tell a story about the pre-columbian history of Costa Rica.
This museum has one of the best jade collections in Costa Rica and Central America. It is magnificent! The whole building was designed to look like a piece of jade ¨in the raw¨, by a young Costa Rican architect Diego van der Laat.

“Also known as Museo de los niños (Kids Museum). An interactive museum specially for the kids. Science and all its different themes brought to life. I still remember each and every time I went. Used to be a prison built in 1910 and closed in 1979. The National Auditorium and the National gallery are also in here. Plays and concerts for all ages”

“The Central Bank of Costa Rica concerned about the cultural and archaeological heritage of Costa Rica, formed the collection of pre-Columbian gold between 1950 and 1974. At the same time boosted its collection of coins and began to acquire works of national art. Initially created a public gallery in the main building of the Bank, but when the collection grew, it was decided to build a museum exclusively designed to house these collections." 20 min walk 19 min 1.6 km via Av 1/Amalia Jiménez Volio and Av.
