A small black sand beach good for snorkeling and swimming. There is not much shade so bring your sunscreen.

Secluded, black sand beach located behind a private community in Waikoloa. Access is limited to a small number of vehicles at one time. The sand gets very hot during the day, so be sure to take water socks or wear your slippers (flip-flops). Not a lot of breaking waves, so it's relatively calm. About 35 minutes north of Kona town.

Secluded beach in the neighborhood across from our villa. Drive around to access through guarded gate. Just tell them you are going to the beach!

Cool Black Sand Beach location. A bit of a hike/treck to get to, wear appropriate walking shoes/sandals.

Private Black Sand Beach with a guard 24/7 and very few people admitted each day. First come first serve for about 10 parking spaces. Black sand beach with showers, public bathrooms and no crowd. Ideal for snorkeling and swimming in calm waters. The black sand stays warm as the sun starts to set, but it can be a little too warm at mid-day. Best in the morning or in the late afternoon. Absolutely gorgeous views. The area is known to have gorgeous honu, or sea turtles come ashore and stop for a snooze throughout the day. Durable, reef-friendly and water-resistant shoes recommended.
