To accompany the 'cicchetti' the drink of choice is the spritz, made of white wine or prosecco, sparkling water and a shot of a liqueur like Aperol or Campari, Cynar or Select)' Alla Rampa is also a good value for money trattoria which serves unpretentious but good home cooked food. The venetian equivalent of a working man cafe. If you want to eat a meal it is best to go around 1 o’clock once the workmen have gone back to work. Closed in the evening”

“"The Venetian countryside" Together the two islands of Vignole Vecchie and Vignole Nuove produced the doge's wine, and their 50 inhabitants still make a living mainly from agriculture. Like that of nearby Sant’Erasmo, the landscape is covered in fields, groves and vineyards, and people are few and far. Be aware that Vignole is not an easy island to explore. The residents live in isolated farmstead-type buildings and are not keen on outsiders wandering through their land: fences, gates, barking dogs and 'private property' signs deter visitors from wandering the paths which locals obviously use as thoroughfares. I'm not sure how much I should advise exploring this Island, but if you go there try the restaurant “Trattoria alle Vignole” that I suggested on the section ”Food”.”
