Carter Falls in Elkin is a great place to swim and to check out the waterfalls without a big hike. From the Carter Falls Trailhead (or Powerhouse Trailhead) it is 1 mile roundtrip.

This short and simple hike ends with a beautiful waterfall. Approximately 12-15 minute drive.

Carter Falls is a neat local hidden gem that is a very short walk from the parking area, or a nice hike on the Mountain to Sea Trail from Grassy Creek Winery.
