Drik Picture Library, Bangladesh is a distinctive multimedia organisation that was established in 1989. Its major areas of expertise are advocacy and awareness campaigns, production of communication material and training. Drik is able to provide a one-stop cost effective multimedia services through its six departments – the Picture Agency, Photography, Publications, Audiovisual, DrikNEWS and Gallery & Event Management. On 4th September 1989, a small group of people set up a picture agency in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. During the 1980’s, Bangladesh found itself in the middle of a very fierce political battle. This made life very difficult for artists, especially those specializing in photography. If their art was considered political, they were not allowed to display it. And it is for these reasons, which Drik Gallery was created, and has developed to be the biggest privately owned art gallery in the country. Here, in the creative walls of the gallery, artists enjoy the freedom of thought and expression and can find a place to display their work.

One cannot write an article about cultural spaces in Dhanmondi without mentioning Drik Gallery. Situated opposite to Nando's at Dhanmondi Road #27, Drik Gallery hosts numerous events throughout the year, most centered on the exhibition of photography. A strong and widely influential network of photographers has formed around Drik Gallery and seeing their work will certainly leave you with a new perspective. Aside from photography exhibitions, Drik Gallery, as well as the other art galleries in Dhanmondi, such as Bengal Art Lounge, Chitrak and Gallery 21, all host a variety of exhibitions from poetry and literary events to painting and even numerous fairs throughout the year.
