An historic part of Matamata history. A place where you can wander around at your own leisure. Take a picnic and enjoy the grounds. Visit on your way to Wairere Falls or on the way back. Opening hours on their website.

Discover some local history about Matamata and the surrounding districts. Firth Tower was built in 1882 and is surrounded by tranquil gardens you can wander through. Take a picnic lunch and enjoy the atmosphere.

There was an Auckland businessman Josiah Firth who in 1882 decided to build Firth Tower. An 18 metre concrete Tower was very fashionable then- a symbol of hi status. Now its full of Mairo and pioneer artefacts. Open 10-4pm thursday to Monday
