Take the ferry at the end of the pier by the Boat House restaurant and go over to see Loch Leven Castle on Castle Island where Mary Queen of Scots famously spent her last days in Scotland. But check the ferry is running as it only goes from April to October and can sometimes be closed if the Loch is too rough.

Loch Leven Castle: Enjoy a visit to Loch Leven Castle by catching a small boat from the harbour - 1st April to 31st October. Mary Queen of Scots was kept captive here from 1567-68; held in one of Scotland's oldest Tower Houses until her escape. www.historicenvironment.scot
