Perfect hole in the wall Peruvian joint. Newburgh boasts a large Peruvian population, and while this place looks like a dump form the outside, the staff is delightful and the food is great. TV will invariably be blasting a bad soap opera or a soccer match, be forewarned, but in my book #worthit.

My favorite Jamaican spot in Newburgh. A delish local spot with a sweet owner located next to beautiful Downing Park. Definitely outside of the "hipsters & microfoam" neighborhood of Newburgh, and the neighbors are friendly. Don't go too late you they run out ;)

Local grocery store, meat market, and fish monger. Features some fun Korean and Jamaican stuff you don't see everyday. Don't buy grapes or broccoli here as the smell of fish will haunt you, but a great stop for basics within walking distance.

A large South-American centric grocery store in the Target plaza just outside of Newburgh. A fun place to pick up basic groceries, plus a few fun treats you won't find anywhere else.

Newburgh Vintage Emporium is a 2-location force in antique and oddity shopping. One location near the foot of the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge, the other on upper Broadway/ 17k. So much fun and *huge*.

Beautiful architectural salvage store with fun small gems too. Love this place, love the owner... ! Many "house parts" in your guest apartment purchased here. :)

Sightseeing
Friggin beautiful hiking near your Airbnb. I favor the Esty & Hellie Stowell Trailhead as it has several "levels" up the mountain with really good views. So even if you don't make it to the tippy top of the mountain, you'll get at lease one super solid insanely beautiful panoramic view in and feel accomplished ;) Take a picture of the trail map before you get started so you have it to refer to!
If you have kiddos or want a more mild experience, hop over the the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum next door.

Really sweet and low key Nature Center. Easy strolling space and in summer check Grasshopper Grove with kids--- a magical natural playground with water feature that is always an enriching hit.
