Beltline is a walking path that wraps around the city. There are a lot of great parks, restaurants, bars shops right on the Beltline.
I recommend entering at Piedmont Park and walking to Ponce City Market.

Getting Around
MARTA is the public rail system to get around in Atlanta. The Buckhead station is a 5 min walk from my apartment. I don't recommend MARTA if you are checking out Atlanta unless your destination is close to a station. Otherwise you will have to walk, a lot.
