Our favourite food

Check out some of our faves in the village.
Its the best place to eat locally sourced seafood in the whole of Northumberland. Despite it's great rep, The Lobster has a laid back atmosphere and is also great for kids - menu available. Veggie and meat dishes also on the menu. Booking essential.

Traditional, family friendly pub with plenty of space. Traditional 'pub grub' and a warm fire for cosy winter nights...and a huge beer garden for sunny days. It's big enough that you'll always get a seat in here if everywhere else is booked.

Our favourite Bamburgh Pub. Nice decor and a good menu, you'll get a good lunch or dinner in here, or perfect for a drink on the way home from the beach or castle.

Parks & Nature

A beautifully crafted contemporary garden. Kids can ride the mini tractors and on a sunny day take swimmers and towels for the children to run through the water features, they'll be screaming in delight. Meander round the gardens, and enjoy coffee and ice cream in the Pavillion - although we recommend a picnic on the vast lawn infront of the huge cascading waterfall. You can while away a good few hours here. The Treehouse Restaurant can be accessed without paying for the gardens and is lovely for a romantic dinner.

Take your English Heritage card for a trip to the historic priory and your National Trust card for a visit to the castle. You'll need walking boots or trainers to tromp about this ancient place of religious significance. There's plenty of space for the kids to run free, and benches to take in the magnificent views back towards Bamburgh whilst watching seals play in the shallows. Follow your nose to the lovely coffee aroma wafting around the village and be surprised by the roastery in the centre - they roast their own outstanding coffee in a yurt onsite and offer a lovely lunch. Be careful to check the tide time first as this island is only accessible via a tidal causeway.

Seahouses is the launch point for all trips to the famous Farnes, well worth a visit on a calm sea day, and place of the famous Grace Darling rescue. See the seal pups in October, the puffins in spring and plenty more wildlife besides. Our favourite trip is either the 1.5 hour journey out and back, or the slightly longer trip where you can disembark and visit Grace Darling's former lighthouse home.

Well worth a visit, you can trade in your old books for money off second hand versions. Open till 7pm, 7 days a week and dog friendly, there are cosy fires in the winter and food is served in the former station waiting room. A must see.
