I eat lunch here at least once a week. They use where possible local ingredients, and they make great salads. They do a lunch special for 10 euro, which includes a coffee.

You need to catch a (free) car ferry to get to the 300 acre island which where the anglo norman family the Fitzgeralds built a castle in the 15th century. There will be a big open fire and the drink prices are modestly more than the main land but well worth the experience.

Love the Middle Eastern food here especially the Falafels. You can get 25 falafel Pattie’s for €9. They do great food for kids and have a lovely outdoor seating area and courtyard. The owners Nicola and Dvir are so friendly.

Parks & Nature

This is cycle track only fully opened in the last year. There are a number of highlights on it, including old viaducts, tunnel and a crumbling station. It's 48kms long but the bike hire company will run you back, or take a section and cycle both ways. Try the Greenway Man for bike hire but there are companies in Dungarvan, Waterford and Kilmackthomas too.

This is one of the more famous formal Gardens in the world. It is most famous for it's azaleas and rhododendrons early in the summer. The owner died at 104 and left it too the state. It's an absolute gem and there are plenty of tracks around the place.

A fantastic fully paved walk from the village of Dunhill to Annestown Beach through very scenic wetlands. Round trip is 8km and you can climb up to the ruins of Dunhill Castle along the way. For small children there are fairy doors for seeking out along the walk. Lunch and a pint in Harney’s Pub in Dunhill would nicely round off a super day out.

Arts & Culture

Go for the 200 year old theatre itself and if there is a show on at the time you are here that's a bonus.

Sightseeing

This is very unique. It's only open twice a week unless by private arrangement. This is off the beaten track and not everyones cup of tea. If you want to visit Lord Waterford's house it hasn't changed much in 800 years. The history of the family is very entertaining, and is famous for a family curse. Basil will give you a tour of some rooms within the house and the shell house which is made from shells from around the world. You can wonder around the grounds too. It's reputed to have the oldest bridge in Ireland and the tallest tree.
