Our favorite place to go on a sunny day is Restaurant Skovmøllen, which is located in the scenic forests of Aarhus in an old water mill from the early 19th century. We enjoy going there for coffee and cake in the weekends, followed by a walk into the forest and down to the sea nearby. The restaurant also serves praised gourmet food in the evening.

The Memorial Park is just below the castle grounds of Marselisborg Palace, facing out over the Bay and is one of many beautiful parks in Aarhus. In the Marselisborg Memorial Park there are numerous fascinating and intimate areas for you to explore. If you happen to be in Aarhus during May and June, make sure not to miss the beautifully flowering cherry trees in the Memorial Park's cherry grove. A memorial wall in the Marselisborg Memorial Park bears the names of the 4,144 South Jutland Danes who lost their lives on compulsory service in the Kaiser's forces during the Great War.

Aarhus has a large and diverse harbour environment. Experience, for example, the raw and maritime atmosphere with workers and cranes loading loads of cargo ships in the country's largest container port. Stop off at the Aarhus Ø district, and see Isbjerget (the iceberg building), which stands side by side with modern architecture, or stroll about the harbor square and experience Endless Connection (water art).

The theater is located in a beautiful old building, and has five stages and a total of 1,200 seats. The listed building just opposite the Cathedral was designed by the architect Hack Kampmann, and was inaugurated in 1900. The Theatre has an all-embracing repertoire in a season that stretches from early September to mid-June, partly in the form of approximately 15 of its own productions and also a few guest performances.

The pedestrianised high street "Strøget" is 850 metres long and is a unique shopping street and the city’s nerve-centre, connecting the very best shopping precincts in the city centre. No matter what you are looking for, you can be sure to find it in one of the large brand name shops or in the small shops carrying special product ranges. The pedestrianised high street connects the Banegårdspladsen central station square with the street of Åboulevarden by the river, and there are also numerous places where you can take a break, enjoying a tasty hot dog, a delicious kebab, or perhaps a perfectly brewed coffee from one of the high street's prize-winning baristas.
