A bit more off the beaten path than the Islands in the Sky district of Canyonlands, there are really unique features to be found! Newspaper Rock is a great rock art location on the way in, and the needles and other cool rock formations are unique and out of this world. A great place for hiking. Druid Arch is a favorite, but it's an 11 mile hike!

Sunrise or sunset are both spectacular from this small park. Just off the parking lot are spectacular views of the Colorado River snaking it's way through deep canyons. Only about 45 minutes from Moab, it can be combined easily with a trip to the Island in the Sky District of Canyonlands. A great place to bring a picnic dinner and a bottle of wine and watch the sunset!

Dead Horse Point State Park

No need for a car for this one - it's less than 1/4 mile walk to one of the most unique rock art sites in the Moab area, and that is saying something! Look for all the unique characters, including 'Moab Man' For photos, best when it is lit by the late afternoon sun to increase contrast.
