Sightseeing

Amazing day out, you can get the boat to the Island from the Ferry at Sandbanks or Poole Harbour. once there you can see loads of wild life; red squirrels, peacocks, deer. There is a lot of history on the Island and a very good National Trust shop once there with a lovely tea room. Trails for the children to follow & find things and a really different terrain to the mainland. Sunset hill is also amazing on the mainland as you are coming from the direction of Poole down to Sandbanks. Many people often buy their fish & chips and sit to watch beautiful sunsets

Corfe Castle has a brilliant History centre and if you are interested in History is a must see. Just by the entrance to the castle there are also some fab places to have afternoon tea and great Sunday roast in the Greyhound Inn, not far to drive from there is Swanage another great place to visit for Fish & Chips. Inbetween Corfe and Swanage is a tiny place called Kingston, a right turning as you leave Corfe heading to Swanage. Follow the road to the top of the hill and you'll find The Scott Arms, they do good food and have the most awesome view from their garden looking down onto Corfe Castle and Poole Harbour.

Parks & Nature

Knoll beach is a fab spot just over the ferry to Studland which is all National Trust land. You can park at this beach and there is a great visitors centre and really great cafe with hot and cold food, fab ice cream parlour with Purbeck ice cream. You can hire kayaks or if you time it right with the tide walk to 'old Harry Rocks' a great walk to see these iconic rocks

I recommend this place if the sky is blue as it reflects into the blue pool, it's so beautiful and idyllic you would think you are in the Mediterranean. The gardens are lovely and also a lovely tea room

Arts & Culture

Poole Quay is an interesting place, from viewing where they make the luxurious Sunseeker yachts to the small interesting shops and fishing history. Also you can visit Poole Pottery and see it being made, there is a pottery cafe upstairs for children to make their own and a great shop also. Just off the Quay on the old High Street is a fantastic fish restaurant called 'Storm', Pete the owner is also the fisherman and has his own oyster beds in the Harbour, but its best to book, A famous local fishmongers where you can get freshly caught and dressed crab; Greenslage Frank - 16 New Quay Rd, Poole BH15 4AF
