There is a cafe at the park, where you can sit outside under trees and enjoy a coffee or fresh juice of your taste. A good starter for the day, but also open in the warm summer evenings for a chilled beer/wine outside.

Scenic views of Cretan nature towards the Lassithi Mountains. Also hiking paths on the mountains, but I am not sure which one exactly to recommend. My dad comes from Tzermiado. In August there is Potato fest in Tzermiado. Also many local fests in the plateau throughout the whole August.

I go there for the cheap Greek beer from the barrel and the good music. Sometimes they host parties. Also, LGTB friendly.

Heraklion's coastline from the Old Harbour towards the West is beautiful. Especially at sunset. For a long walk, you can go down to the stadium, if you feel like it.
